Whenever I am in the US, I make it a point to drop by American Cut Steakhouse if there is one on my location. In my personal opinion, it is one of the best restaurants in the country to enjoy a steak. After every meal, I am left wondering – how can I cook the same great steak? After several attempts, I am proud to say that I have already mastered some of the basic techniques. Let me share with you some of the secrets that will instantly turn you into a gourmet chef!
Start with a High-Quality Meat
The first step is to shop for the right meat. Fresh is always the best. You need to find a butcher you trust within the community, a person who will act as your meat purveyor. The meats should be hand-selected to be sure that they are premium choices, which will also make you confident that the steak will end up being tender.
The Right Marbling
Whenever I dine in my favorite Buckhead, Atlanta restaurants, one thing that I easily notice in their steaks is the marbling. When there is even marbling, the flavor will be better. When the marbling is thick and uneven, this means that the cow has most probably been forced-fed. A little fat and marbling will make the steak taste a whole lot better!
Reverse Searing is the Way to Go

It can be challenging to do at home, but when you know the right way to go, success will be an easier feat. It is a process that aids in moisture loss, resulting in fuller flavor. The enzymes also break down the muscles, making the meat tender. Chefs of reputed restaurants and steakhouses tend to master this technique. This is why many families tend to look for a fine dining steakhouse when they prefer to dine out.
Season it Right
Seasoning is essential for a perfectly-cooked steak, but you have to season only a little. Personally, some of my favorites are ground pepper, parsley, and butter. A generous seasoning of Kosher salt will also do the trick. Before seasoning, make sure that the steak has already reached room temperature.
